By Nick Schofield

When you are in the market to buy doors you have to ensure you do the necessary research to get the best product based on your requirements. It’s very safe to say that in today’s world wooden doors are becoming a thing of the past, composite doors will allow you to get the same feel and style of traditional wooden doors but at a much better price and without the defects.

Composite doors have a number of advantages over wooden doors, the first benefit you will see as mentioned before is the price. They come in a number of different styles and designs so whether it’s a Georgian bar combination composite door or a design from the 1950′s your after you will not be stuck for choice.

Another great advantage of designs such as the Georgian bar combination composite door is that they have 6 times the heat insulation compared to doors made from timber, this means that you could potentially be able to save on your heating bill each month.

Composite doors will increase the security on your premises as they have a unique locking system which is harder to break, along with the guarantee that the door itself will not warp, twist or bow in any way you can be confident about buying composite doors for your premises.

Picking the perfect design is crucial to making the final result much more pleasant, if you are having trouble finding a design you like you can create your own by using online door designers to get the perfect result – every time!

How to Fix a Screen

October 21, 2008 by Phoenix Handyman Leave a Comment

By David Shifflett

When screens on window and door are torn, they allow pests into your home when they are left open. When they are sagging or rusty, they look terrible and darken rooms. Fortunately, most screens are easy to remove and replace. Most the frames these days are metal and the screen are fiberglass, or vinyl.

1. You want to use a flat head screwdriver to remove the spline that holds the screen in place. You can slowly pry up on it make sure that you don’t scrap the screen or bent the metal.

2. Lay the replacement screen down on the frame and trim the screen so that it is slightly bigger then the frame. You can use utility scissors to cut it or if you are replace it with metal you want to use tin snips to cut it. If you are using metal please be careful it can pick the hell out of you and cut you good, so use gloves when dealing it this material.

3. Using the convex side of a screen-spline roller, push the screen into the spline channel of the frame. Then push the spline back in over the screen. Using the concave end, force the spline into place, stretching the screen fabric so that is it tight. Cut off the excess screen fabric with a utility knife and you are all done.

Now that is how you fix those annoying screen that tear or break. Because we all know that when you have kids that they like to open door with the screen and not the door
